LOS ALAMOS, NEW MEXICO, February 6, 2013—The Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) of Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS), the company that manages and operates Los Alamos National Laboratory for the National Nuclear Security Administration, is accepting applications for the 2013 calendar year. Companies selected will receive awards that can range from $10,000 to $100,000 in order to commercialize technology and take it to market faster.

On November 9, 2012, a small group gathered at the High Desert Discovery District (HD3) in Santa Fe. Front and center were David Groeneveld, Bridget Adams, Mark Flinn, Barrett Mooney and Ken Palmer of HydroBio, a Santa Fe environmental company. The company presented some of its strategic challenges to a panel of experts who work in the fields of water conservation and technology.

Venture Acceleration Fund awards help region’s businesses grow


LOS ALAMOS, NEW MEXICO, November 19, 2012—Two local biotech start ups, a water and power company and a hardware inventor are the latest recipients of $165,000 in Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) awards from Los Alamos National Security, LLC.

Mustomo, Inc., IX Power, Synfolia, and Tape-Ease will receive funding to take their products and services to the next development level. Three of the four companies are commercializing technology and intellectual property developed by New Mexico’s national laboratories and educational institutions.

Santa Fe, NM – Eight companies will be announced on Thursday, October 4th at the Spirit of Innovation event in Santa Fe as part of the 20/20 Campaign to celebrate small businesses in Northern New Mexico. The event will be held at the Scottish Rite Temple from 6-8pm. The 20/20 Campaign aims to recognize and support 20 high-growth companies by the year 2020 that are becoming major employers in Northern New Mexico. Together the companies in the 2012 class employ around 270 people and have combined revenues of over $59 million.

New Mexico firms in health, beauty and agriculture gain support

LOS ALAMOS, NEW MEXICO, June,19,2012—Three small companies in the diverse fields of medicine, cosmetics and crop irrigation are the latest recipients of Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) awards from the Los Alamos National Security, LLC. Integrative Enzymatics, Vapour Organic Beauty and HydroBio will receive startup funding from the Laboratory to help them gain traction in their respective markets.

"The VAF program fills a unique need by providing capital that reduces a company’s risk," said David Pesiri, the Laboratory’s Technology Transfer Division leader.

“VAF is a catalyst for start-ups as well as companies that are ready to scale up and add new jobs. These three award winners demonstrate the diverse ways that VAF helps local companies. The common denominator is the overall benefit to Northern New Mexico,” Pesiri noted.
